Every morning, Dick Novack climbs a hundred steps to his office. Today, someone's waiting at the top with a case that'll take him from the Cass Corridor to the burned-out blocks of 12th Street.
The Series
1979. Dick Novack runs a private investigation and security firm out of a second-floor office on Grand River Avenue, on the west side of Detroit. The desk is scarred oak. The ashtray is always full. The .38 stays in the holster unless it doesn't.
These are his cases—the ones that kept him up at night, the ones that taught him what people are capable of, the ones he never forgot. Told through his eyes then, and his son's reflection now.
